Scholarships
The Åbo Akademi University Foundation manage a large number of scholarship funds, from which grants are awarded annually to students and researchers at universities and universities of applied sciences, primarily at Åbo Åkademi University. Most of the scholarship funds managed by the foundation are distributed through other organisations, mostly Åbo Akademi.
The criteria for scholarships are defined by the regulations of each individual fund, in line with the wishes of the donors.
Following scholarship funds are available:
- Doctoral research grants
- The doctoral scholarships are open to enrolled and active doctoral candidates at Åbo Akademi University and are intended for full-time research.

- Postdoctoral research grants
- Postdoctoral scholarships can be awarded to researchers conducting research at a unit within Åbo Akademi University. These scholarships, which cover periods from 6 to 12 months, are intended for full-time research.

- Scholarships for degree students
- Scholarships for Åbo Akademi University staff
- Åbo Akademi staff can apply for support through the university for conference arrangements, travel, and open access fees. Since Åbo Akademis anniversary 2018, the foundation has also funded a Guldkanten-travel grant, specifically for teaching staff. The Chancellor evaluates the applications and makes the final award decisions.
