Whistleblowing Channel
Åbo Akademi University Foundation sr takes all reports of misconduct and unethical behaviour very seriously. To ensure that suspected violations can be reported safely and reliably, we have established a secure whistleblowing channel.
This channel allows both employees and external parties to anonymously report suspected breaches of law, regulations, or other forms of misconduct related to the foundation’s operations, including projects and activities funded by the foundation.
We use the confidential reporting service provided by the Finland Chamber of Commerce, which guarantees full anonymity if desired.
Who Can File a Report?
Anyone who suspects that the Åbo Akademi University Foundation sr, or any individual within the organisation, has acted unlawfully, unethically, or irresponsibly, is encouraged to submit a report through the whistleblowing channel.
You do not need to provide definitive proof of misconduct, but reports must be submitted in good faith. Knowingly submitting false information may result in liability for damages.
Reports can be made either anonymously or under your own name.
What Can Be Reported?
You may report, for example, suspected:
- Unlawful processing of personal data
- Violations of the foundation’s related-party transaction rules
- Conflicts of interest in the allocation of grants, scholarships, or awards
- Illegal discrimination
- Unlawful or improper conduct in projects or activities funded by the foundation.
Do not use the whistleblowing channel to:
- Submit general feedback or opinions on decisions
- Suggest ideas for organisational development
- Apply for grants or funding.
For such matters, please contact us by email at stiftelsen@stiftelsenabo.fi or reach out directly to a member of the foundation’s staff.
How Are Reports Handled?
The whistleblowing channel is operated by the Finland Chamber of Commerce to ensure complete confidentiality and anonymity, if requested.
Once a report is received, a confirmation will be sent within seven days. Within three months, the foundation will provide feedback regarding any actions taken in response.
When you submit a report, you will receive a unique case code. Please save this code, as it is required to follow up anonymously and to respond to messages from the foundation.
Access to reports is strictly limited to a small number of authorised personnel within the foundation. Where necessary, external experts may be involved to ensure a fair and thorough investigation. All individuals involved in processing reports are bound by confidentiality obligations.
The Åbo Akademi University Foundation is a member of the Association of Finnish Foundations, and adheres to its code of conduct, Best Practice for Foundations.
